The new school's been open for a good few weeks now so I thought it was high time I paid Chef Pang a visit now that the initial buzz of opening School of Wok's flagship cookery school in Covent Garden is over.
But when I got there, I was surprised to see that Jez was still as hyped as ever, raring to go and impatient to teach that evening's class. His excitement clearly hadn't faded despite the long hours he (and the rest of the team) has put in over the last few months - "70-80 hour weeks", he told me!!!
He took me on a guided tour of our swanky new cookery school and state-of-the-art AEG kitchens, kitted out with an amazing pop-up extractor fan (that appears as if from nowhere) and wok dimples perfect for great stir-fries.
The school launch couldn't have gone better, Jez said, with classes filling up fast and tons of customers dropping in to have a look at the place, intrigued by the 'rainbow of woks' in the shop window. The 'Flavours of China' Saturday food tours around nearby Chinatown are proving to really popular in particular, with loads of classes already sold out for the next few weeks.
SOW even got a mention in the Sunday Times and the London Evening Standard this month!
If you're ever in London, pop in for a chat with Jez or any of the other chefs and they'll show you around the place - I'm sure you'll be impressed! Meanwhile, get over to the class calendar to see the array of lessons we have to offer.
Here's a few snaps of the new place at 61 Chandos Place...leave a comment underneath and let us know what you think!
