Party hats and balloons at the ready...School of Wok has now been open for one whole year!

The first 12 months have flown by so quickly but we've enjoyed every single bit of it, thanks in no small part to all our enthusiastic, loyal customers who have made it an overwhelming success.

Our beloved little school in the heart of the capital has seen thousands of keen foodies grace its doors over the last year and we've been proud to spread our knowledge and passion for Eastern food across the city. It's been one hell of a busy year but well worth all the hard work!

"I cannot believe it has been one year already!" said Head Chef Jeremy Pang.

"On one side, a year seems like it's passed so quickly – from being a 'new cookery school in London' to a well-known establishment where people come to learn about new cuisines.

"...On the other hand, from a behind-the-scenes perspective, to think it's been a whole year actually baffles me! We're so lucky to have a team of such passionate people and it feels like we've been working together for 10 years rather than just one!"

By opening up shop on Chandos Place last May, we've been blessed by a perfect location – walking distance from three well-known tube stations, a stone's throw from trendy Covent Garden and a short stroll from the vibrant streets of Chinatown.

"What's changed over the year?"...well, quite a lot actually! We've been featured in all the national newspapers, cooked up some tasty treats at some of the country's largest food events, and taken cookery courses across the UK.

After dramatically ramping up the variety of classes on offer, we now have a close-knit team of professional chefs specialising in several cuisines, including Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indian and Malaysian.

Meanwhile, in contrast to a number of other cookery schools in London, we now offer courses designed specifically for different abilities and skill sets, from one-hour quick-fire wok sessions and three-hour masterclasses, to food tours and all-day lessons. We've even launched a series of longer, more intensive cookery courses designed for the budding chef in mind, offering professional qualifications in basic cookery techniques.

One of the more recent additions to our repertoire has been five-day, intensive dim sum courses that give customers an all-access-tour to the world of this Chinese delicacy, showing you just how easy it can be to recreate dozens of bite-sized pastries in your own home.

Jeremy said: "Co-founder Nev and I are incredibly proud of what we have achieved in the first year. Our plans were to try our best to cover our costs and build a team/structure that would produce a great hands-on cookery-class experience, to complement our Central London location...and we both know we have overcome even our own expectations!

"We can't wait to celebrate School of Wok's first birthday along with our most valued customers and friends of the business."

The competition to win a ticket for our birthday party on the 27th June has now closed. Thanks to everyone that applied - we will be announcing the lucky winners very shortly.
