In this 3 hour vegetarian Korean cooking class, you will learn a variety of essential cooking techniques and skills while creating delicious dishes packed with flavour.
- Cutting, slicing and chopping using a Chinese cleaver: One of the most important skills you'll learn in this class is how to properly handle and use a Chinese cleaver to cut, slice and chop ingredients for Korean cuisine. The head chef will guide you on how to hold the cleaver correctly and how to use it to achieve precise cuts and slices.
- Korean seasoning basics: You'll be introduced to the key ingredients and flavours that make up Korean cuisine, and how to properly use them to create mouth-watering dishes. You'll learn about the essential ingredients such as gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, and fermented ingredients like doenjang and gochugaru.
- Kimchi pickling and fermentation process: Kimchi is an essential component of Korean cuisine, and this class will teach you how to make this traditional Korean dish from scratch. You'll learn how to prepare the ingredients, create the marinade, and properly store the kimchi for fermentation.
- Hot stone cooking: Another unique aspect of Korean cuisine is the use of hot stone cooking. In this class, you'll learn how to properly heat and maintain the hot stone, and how to use it to cook your bibimbap to perfection.
- Flavour balance: You'll also learn the art of balancing flavours in Korean dishes, such as sweet, spicy, savoury, and sour. The head chef will show you how to achieve a perfect balance of flavours, so you can create delicious Korean dishes every time.
The class will be led by a Head Chef and Assistant Chef, and class sizes typically range from 6-12 students.
This class is suitable for all levels of experience, from seasoned chefs to total beginners. We are here to help you become more confident in your skills and learn new techniques to impress your family and friends.
