Our Full Day Indonesian cooking class is designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of the unique flavours and techniques that make Indonesian cuisine so special. During this 6 hour cooking class, you’ll learn:
- Knife Skills:By the end of the class, you'll be able to handle a Chinese cleaver with confidence and precision.
- Spice Blending: You'll learn how to make curry paste from scratch using a pestle and mortar. This traditional method allows you to experience the unique aroma and taste of freshly ground spices, which can be used to create a range of dishes such as Rendang.
- Wok Cooking: Learn how to use a wok effectively, from preheating and seasoning to tossing and flipping ingredients.
- Sauce Making: Sauces are an integral part of Indonesian cuisine, adding depth and complexity to many dishes. In a cooking class, you'll be taught how to make the perfect peanut sauce to complement dishes such as Sate Ayam Madura. You'll also learn how to make palm sugar syrup.
Our menu contains allergens such as nuts, shellfish, gluten, and egg. If you have any allergies, please contact us in advance so we can provide alternative recipes and ingredients. Unfortunately this class is not suitable for vegetarians.
The class will be led by a Head Chef and Assistant Chef, and class sizes typically range from 6-12 students. All of our classes involve knife skills and our chefs can also answer other questions you may have around ingrendients or techniques. Each student has their own chopping board and prep space, but the cooking at the hob is done in pairs. We recommend you bring some tupperware for taking home any leftovers.

- Beef Rendang - Slow-cooked beef in coconut milk and spices resulting in a dry, caramelised and flavourful dish

- Sate Ayam Madura - Marinated and skewered chicken, grilled and served with a rich peanut sauce
- Klepon - Glutinous rice cake filled with palm sugar and coated in grated coconut
- Nasi Kuning - Fragrant turmeric-infused rice, a staple in Indonesian cuisine

Our classes have up to 12 students with 1 Head Chef and 1 Assistant Chef, providing an intimate and personalised experience.
What is included?
We provide all the essentials - ingredients, equipment, a welcome drink, soft beverages, tea, coffee, and a delicious light lunch to keep you energised. You can savour your creation or take it home, accompanied by a glass of wine or beer for added enjoyment. Any leftovers are yours to keep. Please note the age requirement: participants must be at least 16 years old, while those under 16 must attend with an adult.
