Chinatown Walking Tour and Cookery Class - Understanding the Wok

What better way to learn about Chinese food than to visit London’s Chinatown! Join us as we take you to this iconic landmark to learn about the ins-and-outs cooking staples whilst you try some delicious authentic foods where you’ll return to cook an enticing Chinese meal.

Full Day

For true Wok-star status join us on this Full-Day cooking class where you’ll be shown around London’s iconic Chinatown. You’ll visit famous restaurants such as Kowloon Bakery for a spot of breakfast, and Jen’s Cafe for a light dumpling lunch.

You'll then return to the School to master the Wok and make some delicious dishes. You will wrap and fold Jiao Zi- or traditional Chinese dumplings, stir-fry fragrant and spicy Sichuan chicken, flash fry delicious Morning Glory greens and create the all-time favourite of Egg Fried Rice.

The menu for this class contains allergens such as nuts, shellfish, gluten and egg. We can cater towards those who have allergens by providing alternative recipes or ingredients. Please contact us at the time of booking to let us know. We also provide Halal alternatives where possible for when cooking in our classes.

How is the class structured?

The first 2 1/2 hours are spent discovering nearby Chinatown. You’ll have breakfast at Kowloon Bakery, visit a variety of specialist Chinese and Asian supermarkets, followed by a light dumpling lunch at Jen’s Café before returning to the School of Wok kitchens. The last 3 hours of class will be spent cooking and then enjoying the dishes you prepare.

How many people are there in the class with how many teachers?

This class usually has between 8-12 students, with 1 Head Chef and 1 Assistant Chef.

What is included?

-A welcome drink

-Breakfast at Kowloon Bakery

-Guided tour around a variety of Oriental supermarkets in Chinatown

-Light dumpling lunch

-1 glass of wine, served with your meal (or soft drink alternative)

-The opportunity to sit down and enjoy your meal at the end of the class
